As you know, Family Dispute Resolution (‘FDR’) is becoming an increasingly significant aspect of the Family Law work we do. It is already compulsory in most parenting matters prior to the initiating of parenting proceedings.
With the increasing pressures on the Family Law Courts, it is becoming a common feature of most property settlement matters with the Courts ordering parties to attend private dispute resolution instead of Conciliation Conferences or as a trial approaches.
It will probably be the case that in time, property matters may also require the equivalent of a section 60I Certificate before proceedings may be initiated.
Paul Fawcett, our Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (‘FDRP’) has nearly 20 years’ experience as a Family Law practitioner. He has been an Accredited Specialist Family Lawyer since 2008 and is an Independent Children’s Lawyer.
