Paul
James Fawcett

Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (Mediator)

As a Family Lawyer for nearly 20 years, Paul has assisted thousands of people going through separation and divorce and brings his real-world of knowledge of Family Law into his practice as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (mediator).

In 2008, Paul established Catalyst Family Lawyers as a boutique specialist Family Law Firm.

“I want to help people going through separation or divorce work through their legal issues while maintaining their self-respect and dignity; people who want a fair financial settlement, care about what is best for their children and wishing to resolve their differences with their former spouses so that they, and their families, can move on with their lives.”

As a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, Paul is passionate about helping people resolve their disputes in a respectful and dignified manner. Before commencing his legal career, Paul was a primary school teacher in inner-Sydney.

“As a teacher, I saw first-hand the damage that can happen to children’s emotional and psychological welfare when their parents are ‘at war’ with each other.”

As an Independent Children’s Lawyer (“ICL”) Paul represents at-risk children in complex parenting cases before the Family Law Courts.

“I’m a Family Lawyer because I enjoy helping people. I’m passionate about using my legal skills to help vulnerable kids who often get lost in their parents’ disputes”.

In 2020, Paul combined his skills and knowledge as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner and Family Lawyer to establish Catalyst Family Dispute Resolution. Paul is able to assist you to avoid the pitfalls of bitter, expensive and protracted Family Law disputes.

“I’m passionate about being a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner because I know how destructive Family Law disputes can be. I love problem-solving and helping people to realise that they are the ones best capable of sorting out their issues. Sometimes, they just need a bit of a hand to find those solutions. That’s why mediation is so powerful. It gives people a safe place to be heard and where they can create options and solutions that work for them and their families.”
